Tuesday June 19 & Wednesday June 20

Collegial Conversation: Shared Ministry Leadership
Tuesday June 19 from 2:00– 3:15 pm
Kansas City Convention Center

Beyond power differentials, across disciplines, and in service of vitality for our faith, there lies a field. I’ll meet you there. Rumi may not have been thinking of shared ministry when he spoke aloud his mystical poem on overcoming false divisions, but our conversation today is about just that.  Let’s talk about what holds us back as ministers and religious educators from sharing leadership in our congregations and Association, and what is possible when we take the risk to truly co-lead. This shared programming is sponsored by the UU Ministers Association and will be led by Sarah Lammert and Jessica York, Co-Directors of Ministries and Faith Development. (You must be registered for LREDA Professional Day and wear your LREDA badge to be admitted.)

LREDA Professional Day and Annual Meeting
Wednesday June 20 from 8:30 – 1:30 pm
Marriott Colonial Room

Juana Bordas: Embracing a Life of Purpose and Sacred Service
These turbulent times urge us to embrace the mantle of service and to see it as a path to growing people’s potential. We are also called to work together to envision and build the compassionate and just society. Today this means supporting diversity by respecting each person’s individuality, culture, and background. Together we will explore Servant Leadership, an ageless form found in most spiritual traditions and honored in communities of color. We’ll learn collaborative and multicultural practices that will strengthen our ability to serve, build community, and infuse our lives with deeper meaning and purpose. (You must be registered for LREDA Professional Day and wear your LREDA name badge to attend. Non-registered members and friends may attend the business meeting. Email [email protected]to arrange to attend only the business meeting.)

Juana Bordas is a Nicaraguan-American community activist specializing in leadership development and diversity training. She is the founding President of the National Hispana Leadership and the bestseller author of “Salsa, Soul, and Spirit: Leadership for a Multicultural Age.” In 2017 she was honored as one of most Influential Hispanics in America by the National Diversity Council.
